On March 8, 2012, the International Women’s Day, the SSCLF- Pearl S. Buck Public Fund hosted a charity gala at the SSCLF Kindergarten. The event was organized jointly by the Pennsylvania Center in Shanghai, the American Women’s Club of Shanghai and the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation. Guests at the event included over 100 American women in China. Funds raised from admissions and lottery tickets will all go to charity programs.

At the event, the hosts gave presentations of the legendary lives of Soong Ching Ling and Pearl S. Buck, both of whom had made great contributions to the welfare of women and children. The hosts also gave a detailed presentation of the programs being implemented by the SSCLF-Pearl S. Buck Public Fund.  The event concluded with stage performances by the kindergarten children.
