The 2018 Hezhong Charity Dinner, hosted by the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation， undertaken by the Shanghai Hezhong Cultural and Artistic Exchange Center, was held at Crowne Plaza Shanghai on the evening of December 8, 2018. More than 300 people including experts, scholars and artists from the cultural and artistic circles Wu Jingping, Qian Datong, Fang Fangfang, Gao Bowen, Zhao Zhigang, Chen Shaoze, Le Zhenwen, Qian Handong and Hezhong group of celebrity and caring people gathered together to celebrate the grand event. Cao Jingxing, Sun Li, Tian Qinxin, Lin Xinru, Zhao Pu and other celebrities specially filmed a video for the party. A total amount of RMB 1.5 million yuan raised at charity auction will be used to build Soong Ching Ling Children’s Reading Room at Tanghe Xingjiang Martyrs Primary School in Henan province as well as to improve and maintain the first completed Soong Ching Ling Children's Reading Rooms.
Soong Ching Ling founded children's reading rooms in Shanghai in 1946 to help the children in poor families to read literacy and culture. In order to carry forward Soong Ching Ling’s spirit of caring for children, SSCLF- Hezhong Public Welfare Fund launched the Soong Ching Ling Children's Reading Room Public Welfare Project in 2017. The fund has so far set up the first children's reading rooms in Yushu, Qinghai province and Botou, Hebei province and other places. The reading rooms have improved the cultural and arts learning environment for local children, helping to enlighten their wisdom and broaden their horizons through book and equipment distribution, environmental improvement, teachers’ training, arts output and organizing activities.
At the dinner, 10 principals of schools in Shanghai as the guiding base of the reading rooms made decision that they will film and record the picture book reading instruction course, picture book creation course, children picture drama performance course, aerospace science popularization innovation course, music appreciation courses and other courseware, textbooks and drawing atlas for Soong Ching Ling Children’s Reading Room. They will build a learning and exchange platform for the mentoring teachers of Soong Ching Ling Children Reading Rooms.
