On September 16, 2019, the former residence of Soong’s family in Shanghai welcomed two special guests from Taiwan, Mr. Xu Bingsen and Mrs. Shen Meide. They donated a set of real estate and cash to the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation to support SSCLF’s "Farmers' Entrepreneurship Relay Baton” Project.
This is the second time that Mr. Xu Bingsen and Mrs. Shen Meide visited SSCLF. In March this year, the couple in their eighties contacted their friends, and came here for the first time to learn about public welfare donations. Mme. Soong Ching Ling’s public welfare spirit, advocated and adhered to by SSCLF struck a chord with them. After returning home in Taiwan, they phoned and emailed SSCLF several times, and finally decided on the intention of “real estate plus cash donation”.
With their love and goodwill, Mr. Xu Bingsen and Mrs. Shen Meide flew to Shanghai on September 14. Regardless of their advanced age and the long distance, they came to the SSCLF on September 16. In the name of their parents, they donated a house located in Kunshan Development Zone, Jiangsu province to SSCLF, and RMB 2 million yuan as well, hoping to help migrant workers return home to start their own businesses, change the poverty situation of recipient families, and ultimately solve the problem of left-behind children in rural areas.
Mrs. Zou Wei, SSCLF’s executive vice chairman, signed the donation agreement with Mr. Xu Bingsen and Mrs. Shen Meide, and awarded the “Certificate of Donation” to the loving elderly couple. Mr. Jia Yong, SSCLF’s acting secretary general, Mr. Zhang Houye, SSCLF’s deputy secretary general, Guan Jianhua and other people attended the donation symposium.
