On July 29, 2020, the annual meeting of SSCLF – Shanghai Yongjia People Medical Public Welfare Fund was held at the former residence of Soong’s family. At the meeting, Mr. Jia Yong, SSCLF’s acting secretary general, delivered a welcome speech, affirming the fruit achieved in recent years through the public welfare fund and the projects it has been supporting.
Officially established in February 2017, SSCLF – Shanghai Yongjia People Medical Public Welfare Fund is comprised of caring people and entrepreneurs from Yongjia, who join hands from the former residence of Soong’s family to launch out into the cause of public welfare. Today, three years later, they are back here again to exchange experiences and share achievements. Professor Wu Zhebao from Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, a sponsor of SSCLF – Shanghai Yongjia People Medical Public Welfare Fund, reported on the implementation of public welfare projects supported by the special fund. According to statistics, over the past three years, the special fund has raised more than six million yuan, providing direct assistance for 162 financially disadvantaged patients from Yongjia, and major medical assistance for two young people from Yongjia with economic hardship. Three large-scale free clinic activities have been organized in Yongjia, receiving more than 1,400 patients on the spot; another large-scale free clinic activity was organized in Hongyuan, Sichuan Province, with 48 herdsmen operated on pterygium and more than 1000 villagers treated free of charge. The medical consultation platform set up by the special fund management committee have altogether provided medical assistance to more than 2,300 patients. Mr. Ye Yunfei, director of the management committee of SSCLF – Shanghai Yongjia People Medical Public Welfare Fund, made a report on the financial work of the special fund.
The caring entrepreneurs attending the meeting shared their opinions actively during the panel discussion session, talking about the difficulties encountered in the project and the corresponding solutions. Planning to increase the number of free clinics held by famous doctors from Shanghai, the participants anticipated to improve the quality of free clinics, and continue to develop more first-rate projects in line with the purpose and mission of SSCLF and the special fund.
