2021-05-26

On the afternoon of 22 May 2021, a charity fundraising event entitled “Love in the Heart -Helping Others without Hindrance” was successfully held at Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation. The event raised funds through charity auctions and sales for children with cerebral palsy in Tibet to come to Shanghai for surgery and rehabilitation.

At the event, six children dressed in white tutus presented a dance performance Edelweiss. At the end of the song, the audience burst into thunderous applause. When they learnt that the six children were all children with cerebral palsy who had undergone surgery and rehabilitation, all the people present were moved.

The incidence of cerebral palsy in China is 3‰, and the high altitude and thin air of the Tibetan region has resulted in a higher-than-average incidence of cerebral palsy. If a child with cerebral palsy fails to receive timely surgical treatment and post-operative rehabilitation, he or she will suffer from lifelong disability, and the quality of life and family life will be greatly affected.

The project was set up by the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation and implemented by Shanghai Children’s Hospital and Shanghai Yangzhi Rehabilitation Hospital. It is planned to provide surgery and one-year postoperative rehabilitation training for children with cerebral palsy.

Shanghai Hanting Social Foundation and Shanghai Haitian Asset Investment Company donated a total of RMB 600,000. In the subsequent auction session, many caring people enthusiastically raised their bids and donated their money for Tibetan children with cerebral palsy.

The items for the sale and auction are all targeted donations from caring individuals and companies for this project.
